Casino Games Guide: Guide to Craps

How to Play CRAPS

Craps is a game that originated in England. It requires a minimum of gaming equipment and is a very popular game, both in casinos as well as in less formal settings.

Craps can be played against other players or against the bank. Playing against other players is commonly referred to as Street Craps, while playing against the bank is referred to as Bank Craps. The entire game is built around the roll of two dice or in some cases a series of dice rolls. Street Craps is usually reserved for more informal settings Craps casino gameswhile casinos are the venue of choice for most games played against the Bank.

The dice and the dice roll moves in a clockwise direction and the player who is about to roll the dice is called the shooter. Prior to the first roll, the casino will cover all bets madeand set up the odds in terms of payout. The other players at the table bet on the outcome of the shooter’s roll. The dice is passed around and subsequent players get to choose whether they assume the role of the shooter or make a pass on it and just continue betting on the outcome of the roll. When someone does choose to be the shooter, he gets handed a fresh set of dice and the game continues until the game is completed.

The winner is chosen based on a point or a seven. What this means is that if the dice lands on a 7, 11 or on a number that the dealer specifically highlights then the player wins, while if it lands on 2, 3 or 12, it is referred to as a crap-out and the dealer calls ‘craps,’ indicating that the house wins.
