Casino Games guides - Type of POKER
Poker is very popular game in America and Europe. The term “Poker” refers to a range of card games that involve players making the best hand possible out of the cards they are dealt. There are many types of Poker games, and the most popular among them are:
- Texas Hold ‘Em
- Omaha
- Omaha High-Low
- Caribbean Poker
- and Seven Card Stud.
Other common versions of Poker being played in casinos all over the world today include Straight Poker, which is the oldest known form of Poker, Stud Poker, Draw Poker and Community Poker, which is a variation of Stud Poker.
Although these games vary from each other, the basic principles and betting rules behind most poker games remains the same. They also follow the same hand rankings.
The ways each game distinguishes itself from the other include how the cards are dealt for each respective game, the different ways in which a hand can be formed and whether the high hand or the low one determines who wins. Each game also has its own rules as to how many rounds of betting are allowed per game.
The initial amount, in most poker games today, is pre-fixed. The game moves forward in a clockwise motion, and each player must either wager as much money as the pre-fixed amount or the previous bet made or pull out of the round by folding.
Another option players have, is to raise the stakes and not only match the previous amount but put in even more money. When all the players have had their turn to match, raise of fold their bets, the betting ends. Depending on which version of Poker is being played, the player with the high or low hand can win. In some cases, such as with Omaha High-Low, the winnings are split between the two. If all the players fold, with one exception, that player wins.
