With so many major universities around the United States it can be easy for some of the less high profile universities to be neglected on an international level. The fact is, however, that the vast majority of these universities offer a high standard of education in a wide 
range of courses. This is a brief guide to one such university, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
With Las Vegas being so famous as a party haven, it seems hard for the average person to comprehend somebody going here to learn and carve out a career, but each year thousands of people do just that. The University of Nevada is located just one and a half miles from the main party strip and consists of various sites. The field with which the university is most commonly associated is research, and the work that is conducted here is held in high esteem through the USA and internationally.
As a result of its status as a high quality research facility, the University of Nevada has in recent years received a significant amount of funding from the government. It has used some of this money to build new facilities and improve upon existing ones in order to facilitate the work which it conducts and also to attract new students. One such new building is a new students union, with a new research facility also due to be completed shortly. In a further development, the university has recently opened an international campus in Singapore.
